Director of Business Development

Company: Ballard Spahr LLP

Responsibilities:

Ballard Spahr, a national law firm with more than 500 lawyers across 15 offices has a new opportunity for a Director of Business Development.  The selected individual will assist the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer (CMBDO) in the creation and execution of firm-wide business development initiatives and the development and management of the business development team. 

 

The successful candidate will assist with implementing and driving marketing and business development initiatives in alignment with the Firm's strategic and operational goals and objectives; lead key business development projects and initiatives and provide guidance and leadership to the business development team on projects and assignments, including RFPs, business development research and targeting, and follow-up.  They will also support the CMBDO with firm level cross-servicing efforts, strategic account management teams, and business development training programs and coaching and assist with the development and implementation of a measurable metric tracker of accomplishments and effectiveness of business development initiatives. 

 

The Director of Business Development will work closely with the Director of Communications and Director of Marketing as part of the senior marketing/business development leadership team and serve as a liaison on cross-department project teams with leads from other administrative areas of the firm.

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will be extremely organized and have exceptional project management, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and a proven track record of business development with leadership and mentoring experience; developing and implementing initiatives tailored across practices and/or offices, effectively building consensus to achieve desired outcomes; and setting goals, identifying benchmarks and utilizing reporting tools and metrics to measure effectiveness.

A Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience preferably in a law firm or professional services environment are required.
