Director of Marketing

Reports to: Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer

Responsibilities:

Stradley Ronon is seeking an entrepreneurial, dynamic and collaborative Director of Marketing to lead its high-energy, deadline-driven marketing team.  Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer, the position will provide leadership to and management of a 12-person Marketing team, as well as strategic direction and oversight of firmwide and practice-specific marketing efforts.

This position is responsible for the development, implementation and execution of effective marketing and promotional strategies, in alignment with Stradley’s established priorities and plans, in areas that include creative and content marketing, marketing and digital technology (including client relationship management, website, social media, etc.) and external and internal marketing communications. This position will also oversee the development of special projects as needed.

Duties include:

  • Identifying and creating marketing plans to support practice group and attorney marketing efforts. Holding attorneys accountable to plans and tracking ROI.
  • Partnering with the Creative Services Manager to develop and implement a plan for supporting the Firm’s brand and communication goals. Regularly assess internal and external communications activities, including website content, collateral material, client advisories and special publications, to ensure messaging is in alignment with Firm and practice strategies.
  • Monitoring industry, client and legal developments and trends; suggesting potential opportunities to attorneys on how to engage with clients around these topics.
  • Partnering with the Marketing Manager to evaluate sponsorship of external events, trade/industry organizations and business groups and determine which clients to invite and which attorneys to engage.
  • Advising attorneys to develop and share thought leadership through the firm’s website, blogs, social media, newsletters and/or other avenues.
  • Ensuring up-to-date, relevant content on the firm website including attorney bios and accomplishments. 
  • Working with the communications team on all PR, social media and media relations efforts, and ensuring the firm’s presence on online directories and recognition sites (Chambers, Legal 500, etc.) to accurately reflect awards and capabilities.
  • Ensuring maximum effectiveness and efficiency in all marketing processes and, working with department managers to ensure work product is of the highest quality.
  • Evaluating technology to ensure appropriate platforms are in place and utilized for optimal performance. Seek out ways to use technology to advance Firm objectives including search engine optimization (SEO), website, greater engagement across social media platforms and sophisticated experience management tools, among others.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or a closely related concentration required;
  • Prior Marketing experience in a law firm or professional services firm preferred;
  • Previous management experience of processes and personnel required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including copyediting and proofreading.
